Chaperones

Chaperone Service at Foundry

Supporting Your Dignity and Comfort

We want you to feel safe and comfortable during your care. If you are having an intimate examination, test, or procedure, you can ask for a trained chaperone to be there.

A chaperone is there to support you, make sure you feel at ease, and act as a witness. They are trained to be professional, respectful, and to protect your privacy.

Asking for a Chaperone

If you would like a chaperone, please tell us when you book your appointment. This helps us plan ahead so your appointment is not delayed. If you ask for a chaperone on the day, we will do our best to provide one, but sometimes we may need to reschedule.

When a Clinician May Ask for a Chaperone

For intimate examinations, a clinician may ask for a chaperone to be present. If you do not want this, we will record your decision in your notes.

Who Can Be a Chaperone?

• Trained Foundry team members act as chaperones in our surgeries.

• Friends and family cannot be chaperones.

• Both male and female clinical staff work at our practice. If you have a preference, please let us know when you book your appointment.

If you have any questions, please ask our reception team.

We are happy to help.
