Covid-19 Vaccine Passport

There are two ways to obtain your vaccine passport, either online via the NHS App or by calling 119 to request a paper version.

You do not need to telephone your GP Practice to ask about the vaccine passport as they are unable to provide vaccine passports and it’s essential we leave phone lines free for people who need medical assistance.

Vaccine Passport: Online via the NHS App
(Note: The NHS App is separate to the NHS COVID-19 App, which is used for contact tracing.)

  • Your vaccine passport will only be valid when you have had both doses.
  • If you are planning to travel, please register to use the NHS App at least two weeks before travelling.
  • If you have the NHS App and get a message to say you need to contact your GP Practice, this is an extra option to get full access to your medical records* in the NHS App. This is completely separate from the vaccination information and will not affect your access to the vaccine passport.

Vaccine Passport: Call 119 for a paper version

  • The paper letter should be requested at least five days after a second vaccine, and can take up to five days to arrive so make sure to leave plenty of time if you need it to travel.

Download the app from your mobile device’s app store and follow the easy step-by-step registration instructions. It will help if you know your NHS number (though this isn’t essential), and you will need to have a form of ID (passport or driving licence) to hand.

 

   

Vaccine Data Resolution Service (VDRS)

The Vaccine Data Resolution Service (VDRS) has been set up to help people with missing or incorrect vaccination records.

If you have been vaccinated in England, have a current NHS number and are registered with a GP practice in England then the service can help resolve issues with evidence of your vaccinations.

If you have missing or incorrect COVID-19 vaccination data, please call 119 and ask the call handler to make a referral to the VDRS team on your behalf. The VDRS team will then call you back within 5 working days.

Please note they cannot provide clinical advice and cannot assist at this time with queries related to vaccinations received overseas. If the query relates to personal information that is incorrect on a patient record (e.g. name, address), you will need to contact your registered GP practice.


Vaccination had abroad

Vaccine passports are generated from the system used in England for recording Covid vaccine administration, Pinnacle. Currently this system does not have the capability to add data for patients vaccinated abroad. As such for these patient the official vaccine passport cannot be offered.

If you have had your Covid Vaccine(s) abroad, you can have this documented on your patient record, allowing you to view it online through our online services and in turn through the NHS App’s function to view your GP Health Record. You will need to provide us with evidence of your vaccination(s), offering as much detail as possible, including your name, date of birth and NHS Number (if known). Please email this information to:
