Our GP contract with the NHS provides most healthcare free of charge.
However, we also offer some extra services not covered by the NHS. These include reports and medicals. As these are not NHS-funded, there is a fee for these services.
If you can’t find the service you need or have questions, check our FAQ section below
You can find a list of charges below. Fees must be paid before we book your appointment or complete your report.
We cannot make exceptions.

Yes, most NHS services are free.
However, there are some exceptions.
• Prescription charges still apply in England.
• Some services like medical reports, claim forms, and some travel vaccinations are not covered by the NHS.
• Some medicals may need to be done privately, such as insurance or employment medicals.
GPs are not NHS employees. They are self-employed and run their practices like small businesses. They must cover costs like staff, buildings, and utilities.
The NHS pays for specific services only. Fees for non-NHS work cover these additional costs.
Non-NHS services we charge patients for:
• Travel vaccinations (some)
• Private medical insurance reports.
• Holiday cancellation claim forms.
• “To Whom it May Concern” letters.
Services we charge institutions for:
• Medical reports for insurers or solicitors.
• DSS or Benefits Agency reports.
• Medical exams for council employees.
Letters we may decline to write:
• Proof of a child’s school attendance for minor illnesses.
• Proof of attendance for work.
• Letters to third parties without consent or payment confirmation.
Patients sometimes ask for non-NHS services from us because we have their full medical records. If we don’t offer the service you need, other private providers can help. We cannot recommend specific providers, but you can search online based on your area.
NHS work comes first. Private work like completing forms is done alongside this.
We aim to complete requests as quickly as possible, usually within 30 working days.
GPs can only sign forms when they know the details are correct. They must check medical records first. Inaccurate forms can lead to serious consequences for doctors. Fees reflect the time and responsibility involved.
We will tell you in advance if a fee applies and how much it will be. Fees vary between practices. We follow guidance from the BMA when setting our charges.
We cannot sign passport applications. Someone you trust, like a teacher, accountant, or retired professional, can often do this for free.
